Need help with an equatorial mount telescope!?
Does anyone know in detail how to find and see the objects with an equatorial mount? I like Understanding polar alignment, but how does more than that? I'm at 40N Lat. I do not understand how visitors see the objects after alignment polar. What if the object is above my head? I am very new to this true love astronomy. I just I can not find the resources you need to fully understand the concepts of a German equatorial mount.
Once the scope is polar aligned, do not change this setting. Use only the altitude / azimuth adjusters (left-right, top-down for you on the ground hogs). They are inclined to correspond to the tilt of the Earth in feet relative to the North Star. You can view any object on the horizon, but may have to bend and crouch a bit, or stand on a short platform. Welcome to watch the stars! We take a lot of amateur astronomers to love our climate-ten level, turn the red lights to see, etc. So it off! Do not worry about the numbers of "setting circles", which is scientific display. Practice using the system, and beginning to come you-consuming and frustrating at first, then second nature. Clear skies.
