Finding The Perfect Leapster Carrying Case
The Leapfrog Leapster Multimedia Learning System is designed with kids in mind so is fairly durable. Stories on forums and blogs abound of systems that have been accidentally dropped repeatedly with no effect on the performance of the system, but don’t quote me on that J.
As a parent if I buy something electronic for my child I want to know it can be placed somewhere out of harm’s way and that my child knows it has a special place to live when not in use. Not only that with toys like the Leapster that have cartridges that are interchanged regularly, I want to know that the cartridges aren’t floating somewhere under the bed gathering dust in their sensitive places.
When travelling in cars, planes or just across town a carry case keeps everything together so there are no last minute searches under seats in trains or buses for that extra accessory.
Leapfrog (and other brands) have a number of specially designed cases to carry not only the Leapster handheld system but a number of cartridges as well. Designed to be lightweight so as not to encumber a child with too much weight, they offer a modicum of protection to the system. If the device is dropped whilst sealed in the case then it will be protected from all but the highest falls.
The cases also provide protection to the central LCD screen, a notorious problem for all handheld systems, regardless of their age appeal. As the screen is the main source of interaction between the system and the user, it must be protected. If a child cannot see the game because of scratches then the console is useless.
The cases come in different colors and styles. Invariably there are the matching pink cases for the pink/purple Leapster and blue cases for the blue/green model, for those concerned with gender-color relations.
For those families with a more rugged lifestyle or simply more rugged kids, there are hard-cases to fully protect the system and store a number of accessories. Those more concerned with weight and portability can opt for the lightweight cases which offer protection from accidental falls.
Whichever case you choose, a case is recommended to protect your Leapfrog Leapster Multimedia Learning System for years to come.
